Industrial Painter - Lead

Job Description

As an Industrial Painter Lead, you will prep and coat components and assemblies from the fab shop.   The products range from large industrial pieces to architectural sheet metal and are sent to a wide variety of job sites varying from industrial sites to high-end residential.   The lead works with the shop foreman to organize and prioritize work and to manage the paint crew.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is done per O&M Safety policies 
  • To ensure that all product leaving the Painting department is finished at a quality level that will please the customer
  • To determine workflow and prioritization of product through the Painting department to ensure that timelines are met
  • Manage Paint crew to ensure crew satisfaction
  • Work w/Project managers & Shop Foreman to understand and meet time, quality & cost requirements for each project
  • Clean / prep projects
  • Apply various paint systems (enamels, epoxies, urethanes, primers)
  • Instruct crew on best methods for prep and painting
  • Manage paint supplies with assistance from Shop Foreman & Purchasing Agent

Qualifications

  • Basic prep/painting skills
  • Maintain and use equipment in a manner that does not damage or compromise safety
  • Set-up and operate equipment needed to complete task (ladders, forklift, scissor lift, etc.)
  • Highly motivated and able to work w/little or no supervision
  • Ability to work with a team & independently
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with stressful situation
  • Maintain a positive/professional attitude and a dedication to attendance
  • Ability to work a standard 8hr-shift in varying temperatures and other outside conditions
  • Ability to lead teams and to maximize the team potential
  • Ability to communicate directly and professionally to management and other internal customers

Preferred Qualification

  • Two years at a technical, or vocational school (or equivalent)
  • Construction or automotive background
  • Experience leading crews

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Climb ladders & work at heights
  • Pass a respiratory fit test
  • Some overtime required, which includes occasional weekend work
  • High school diploma or GED

Job Details

  • Wages: Hourly, range $17 – $21.50/hr DOE
  • Job Type: Full-time
